Hopes and Dreams

Since the Dodgers relocated from Brooklyn, New York, a unique baseball culture has developed throughout Los Angeles.  The foundation of Dodger culture stemmed from a redevelopment of the Chavez Ravine, the land that the stadium was built on.  With the Chavez Ravine community being displaced due to the rights of eminent domain, this project seeks to bring back a historic community that fights for social equality and diversity.

The concept is based on the California dream and the journey through Los Angeles to Dodger Stadium.  The dream is a progression of five programs which succeed one another: climate, fortune, ability, opportunity, and lifestyle.  The progression of the Dream sets the foundation a new urban typology that seeks to reinvigorate a lost identity of the Chavez Ravine.
